Contributor License Agreement
Thank you for contributing to Kubyl. This agreement explains the rights you grant when you submit a contribution. It is based on the Apache Software Foundation's Individual and Corporate Contributor License Agreements. You keep the copyright in your contributions; you grant a license, not an assignment.
You sign it once, at the bottom of this page, after signing in with GitHub. It covers all of your past and future contributions to the Project. How your data is handled is described in the privacy policy.
1. Definitions
- “Maintainer” means Alexander Birkner, and any person or legal entity to which he transfers the Project or his rights in it.
- “Project” means Kubyl, the software and documentation in github.com/BirknerAlex/kubyl and its successor repositories.
- “You” means the individual or legal entity signing this agreement. For a legal entity, “You” includes every entity that controls it, is controlled by it, or is under common control with it. “Control” means owning more than 50% of the voting rights, or having the power to direct its management.
- “Contribution” means any work of authorship, including changes or additions to existing work, that You submit to the Maintainer for inclusion in the Project. “Submit” means any form of electronic, verbal or written communication to the Project, including pull requests, patches, issues and comments, unless You mark it in writing as “Not a Contribution”.
2. Copyright license
You grant the Maintainer, and recipients of software the Maintainer distributes, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense and distribute Your Contributions and such derivative works.
This includes the right to distribute Your Contributions under any license terms the Maintainer chooses, including open-source, source-available and proprietary licenses, in addition to the license the Project uses when You submit them.
3. Patent license
You grant the Maintainer, and recipients of software the Maintainer distributes, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import and otherwise transfer the work, where the license applies only to patent claims You can license that are necessarily infringed by Your Contribution alone or by combining it with the Project as submitted. If anyone starts patent litigation (including a cross-claim or counterclaim) alleging that Your Contribution, or the Project with it, infringes a patent, every patent license granted to that party under this agreement for that work ends on the date the litigation is filed.
4. Your representations
You represent that:
- You are legally entitled to grant the licenses above. If You are an individual and your employer has rights to intellectual property You create, You have received permission to make Contributions on its behalf, or your employer has waived those rights for your Contributions to the Project. If You sign on behalf of a legal entity, You are authorized to bind it.
- Each Contribution is your original creation, except where You state otherwise as in section 5.
- To your knowledge, your Contributions don't infringe anyone else's copyright, patent, trademark or other rights.
5. Third-party work
If You submit work that is not your original creation, You submit it separately from any original Contribution and state its source, its license, and any restrictions You know of (for example by marking it “Submitted on behalf of a third party: [name and license]”).
6. No obligations
You are not expected to provide support for your Contributions. Unless You choose to, or applicable law requires it, You provide them “as is”, without warranties or conditions of any kind, including warranties of title, non-infringement, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
The Maintainer is not obliged to accept or use any Contribution.
7. What stays the same
Any version of the Project that has been published under an open-source license stays available under that license. This agreement does not take those rights away from anyone; it only lets the Maintainer offer Your Contributions under other terms as well.
8. Changes
You agree to notify the Maintainer if any of your representations in section 4 stop being accurate.
A new version of this agreement applies only to Contributions submitted after You sign that new version.

Sign in with GitHub so the signature is tied to the account you contribute with. Kubyl only reads your public profile (user ID, username and name) once and gets no access to your repositories; the GitHub token is revoked right after.
