Kubyl Mobile is the phone client of Kubyl Server, for iOS and Android. It covers the day-to-day parts of operating Kubernetes without a laptop: live resource tables, logs and a terminal, alerts, Argo CD and Helm, and changes that are confirmed before they happen.
The app is free in the stores, but it does nothing on its own. It talks only to a Kubyl Server that you run next to your clusters. The server holds your kubeconfigs and credentials; the phone never gets a kubeconfig, an exec plugin or a cluster token. It pairs with the server, and the server talks to your clusters.
What you need
- A Kubyl Server with an active license. It is a subscription with no free tier and no trial. See Kubyl Server: install and pairing and Server license.
- A way to reach the server from your phone: the same network or, recommended, a private network such as Tailscale or WireGuard. See Server operations.
- A phone with iOS 15 or newer, or an Android phone.
Install
- Android: Kubyl is on Google Play.
- iOS: Kubyl is on the App Store.
The app is named Kubyl in the stores and on your home screen.
Getting started
- Install and activate Kubyl Server (install and pairing, license).
- Install the app and pair it by scanning the server's QR code (Pairing).
- Pick a cluster and look around (Using the app). Changes are always confirmed first (Safe changes).
Keep app and server up to date
The app checks that the server can prove its license (the lease capability, see Server license) before it shows any cluster. A server that is too old to prove it shows as Not verified (“This server is too old to prove its license. Update the Kubyl Server.”) and the app lists no clusters. Update the server image. In the other direction the server never needs a new app: an app that does not know a newer server feature simply does not show it, and a feature your server lacks is greyed out or hidden, not an error.
What is in which release
This documentation also describes work that is finished but not released yet. Those parts are marked “next release” where they appear:
- Released (app 1.0.2): pairing, clusters and resources, logs and terminal, YAML edit, alerts and silences, Argo CD, Helm (read-only), Prometheus and metrics, operators, cluster updates, push notifications, license screen, per-resource detail pages.
- Next release: the Apps hub (Argo CD, Flux, Helm, Workloads cards), Flux CD, Helm install, upgrade, rollback and uninstall with chart repositories, AI agent chat, and per-device cluster sign-ins (Team plan). These need a matching Kubyl Server release too: Server operations lists what each server switch does.
Looking for a screen? Using the app is the tour, Resource pages covers every kind's page, Apps, GitOps and operators the Apps tab and More, Metrics, alerts and flows the monitoring views, AI agents in the app the chat and Settings and the license screen the rest.
