Kubyl Mobile

Using the app

The five tabs of Kubyl Mobile and what you can do in them, with links to the detailed pages for resources, apps, monitoring, agents and settings.

The bottom bar has five tabs: Overview, Resources, Alerts, Apps and More. The cluster and namespace in the app bar open one switcher: clusters with their connection state and sign-in, and live namespaces. The app remembers the last namespace of each cluster.

Views appear according to what your server and cluster offer. Something your server's version lacks is hidden or greyed out, not an error. The server decides what the phone may do; see What the mobile client can and cannot do.

Overview

A live summary of the cluster: CPU and memory cards with breakdown charts (top consumers plus “other”), an Alerts card and, where available, Argo CD. Metrics show only when the server finds a metrics source; otherwise the app shows a Connect Prometheus for charts card (with Look again) or a calm “No metrics source” hint instead of empty charts.

Resources

  • Everything the cluster serves, grouped: Workloads, Network, Config & storage, Storage, Access Control, Cluster, custom resources by API group and others. Filter the list, or star kinds to pin them to the top. Kinds you may not list are hidden (the app asks the server which you can list), and so are empty groups.
  • Any type opens as a live table with the columns the desktop shows; tap a row for the object. Tables have a sort sheet, a columns sheet and a Wide switch; the filter box matches names and cells and understands !word (exclude) and /regex/. Long-press a row for Describe, Delete, Copy name and Copy YAML (Secrets masked). Objects open as JSON or YAML.
  • The search icon searches kinds and objects across the cluster, with recent searches and objects.
  • Every kind has a page with Summary, Describe and YAML tabs and, where it makes sense, Logs, Terminal and Files. Resource pages lists what each family shows.
  • Secret values are masked everywhere (see Safe changes).

Logs and terminal

  • Logs: choose a container (all or one, init and ephemeral ones included), Previous, how far back to read (last 100 to 10,000 lines, or since 5m, 15m, 1h, 6h, 24h, a time you pick, or everything), wrap lines, show timestamps, search with .* regex and case switches and hits highlighted with a jump between them, JSON lines as Raw, Inline or Pretty, a level filter, follow or pause with an “N new lines” button, and copy, share or download the log. Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Jobs and Services read the logs of all their pods, with the pod name on each line.
  • Terminal: open a shell in a running container, choose the shell (detect, bash, sh, ash, zsh) and the container. A row above the keyboard has Esc, Tab, a sticky Ctrl, Ctrl-C, | / - ~ and the arrows. The app reconnects when the connection drops (the session survives on the server) and offers Reopen after the session ends. Terminals are not offered on read-only clusters.

Editing YAML

Edit an object's YAML in the app and review a diff before you apply it. Applying goes through the same confirmation as every change.

Alerts

Alertmanager alerts by severity, with Firing, Pending and Silenced filters and a badge on the tab with the critical and warning count. An alert page shows its summary, labels (copyable), runbook and the pod or node it points at. You can create a silence from an alert (duration, matchers and a required comment) and expire one. The tab also has Silences and Rules; see Metrics, alerts and flows. Get a notification when alerts fire: Push notifications.

Apps

The Apps tab is the home of the GitOps and package tools. Released app (1.0.2): the list of Argo CD applications. Next release: a hub of four cards (Argo CD, Flux, Helm, Workloads); a card is greyed out, with the reason, when the server is too old, the tool is not installed on the cluster or you lack permission. Apps, GitOps and operators covers Argo CD (sync, rollback, API mode, ApplicationSets), Flux, Helm (read and write), operators and cluster updates.

More

  • Views that your server offers: Operators, Cluster updates, Network flows and Prometheus (older servers show the plain Prometheus query page instead). Helm releases moved to the Apps tab in the next release.
  • Servers: Switch server and Add a server. Cluster: its connection, auth status and whether the server marked it PROD or read-only.
  • Server: the server's details, the license screen, Notifications, Paired devices, and the app's appearance, security and About. See Settings and the license screen.
  • Agents (next release): chat with AI agents about a cluster, see AI agents in the app.
