Using Kubyl

Applications

Workloads, Services and config grouped into applications by their app.kubernetes.io labels.

The Applications view groups the objects of a cluster the way Helm charts, Argo CD and Flux label them. Open it from the Applications row in the Workloads group of the sidebar (with its count), with :apps, or with Applications: Open for This Cluster in the palette.

What counts as an application

An object belongs to an application when it carries the label app.kubernetes.io/instance. Objects are grouped by namespace and instance. app.kubernetes.io/name alone does not group, so unrelated objects that share a program name such as nginx are not merged. Members are Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, CronJobs (with their Jobs), Services, Ingresses, ConfigMaps and PersistentVolumeClaims. Pods and ReplicaSets are not listed, they repeat their workload.

ColumnMeaning
HealthLike kubectl rollout status over the app's workloads: Degraded, Progressing, Healthy or Suspended. An app with only Services and ConfigMaps shows "No workloads". Rows are sorted worst first, then by namespace and instance.
Managed byArgo CD (label tracking counts only when an Application of that name exists), Flux, Helm, otherwise the raw app.kubernetes.io/managed-by label.
VersionThe workloads' app.kubernetes.io/version, else the image tag.
AgeThe oldest object of the app.

Details and logs

Select a row for a details pane that lists the app's objects as links. Press L or use the pane's Logs button to open the log view of a workload, which streams all of its pods. If the app has several workloads the button offers a menu. A log view for all pods of an app at once is not available yet.

Use the namespace menu to narrow the list and Applications: Export CSV (or the table menu) to export the table.
